    Bold BI v6.19 Release Highlights for Self-Hosting and Embedding

    We’re delighted to unveil Bold BI v6.19, a pivotal release designed to enrich your self-hosting and embedding journey. With a host of new features, enhancements, and bug fixes, this update caters to the needs of Windows, Docker, Linux, Kubernetes, and Azure users.

    Improvements

    Data source improvements

    • We have provided IntelliSense support for custom attributes and dashboard parameters in the data source creation window.

    • We have limited the maximum value of data sampling to 1 million.
    • We have provided support to use code view-mode data sources to download and upload web data sources.

    Widgets improvement

    • We have improved Date Picker usability over the textbox, calendar, and buttons.

    Designer improvements

    • We have provided support for the “Replace Value” option at the data source level.

    • We have added support for refresh indicators on widgets, displaying the time of the last data update for each one.

    • We have added support to allow users to bypass schema validation in case of schema mismatches, enabling the uploading of dashboards and data sources.

    Embedding improvements

    • We have provided support to save the view as a default view in JS-based embedding, like in Bold BI® server.
    • We have provided an API to show/hide the export option and select the column button in the “View Underlying Data” pop-up in JS-based embedding.

    Server improvements

    • We have added support to inherit settings from UMS, which helps configure and manage common settings for all tenants in a single place.
    • We have improved the refresh history dialog to show completed refreshes and missing refreshes as separate tabs for clearer detail.

    Bug Fixes

    Data sources

    • We resolved the issue where the view underlying data was not working in data sources created using custom attributes in the source connection.
    • We resolved the issue where the label parameter was not working with data sources created using custom attributes in the source connection.
    • We resolved an issue where the query execution time was not logged properly for the Google Big Query connection.
    • We resolved the problem where the edit connection was disabled after reconnecting the data sources of the usage analytics dashboard.
    • We resolved the issue where it wasn’t possible to use “Current User Email” in expressions.
    • We resolved the problem of duplicate tables being added after reconnecting in the edit connection.
    • You can now display a proper error message when editing an unavailable data source in the dashboard.

    • We fixed the issue where the option to enable/disable “View underlying data” in Bing Maps was unavailable.
    • We corrected the uneven text that occurred when using the auto-fit content property in the RTE.
    • We resolved the child widget resize issue in the Tab widget.
    • We fixed the “More” option alignment issue for the Number Card and KPI widgets.
    • We fixed the breadcrumb value that wasn’t changing when a drill-down was applied to the Tree Map and Heat Map widgets after renaming.
    • We fixed an issue where the summary row was randomly not included during Excel exporting.
    • We resolved the issue with the “Summary Row Expression Dialog” not displaying when creating an expression.
    • We fixed the subtitle visibility issue for the Text Filter widget.

    • We fixed the issue where the selected value was not correctly shown when using the dashboard parameter in the combo box widget.
    • We fixed the issue where the scrollable dashboard was not visible when adding a widget at the end.
    • We resolved the issue where the custom font family was not applied in the filter overview dialog.
    • We fixed the issue of widget linking not working when using the dashboard parameter.
    • We fixed the usability issue in the “Auto Refresh Settings” window.
    • We resolved the issue with Excel and CSV exporting not working with (Null) and (Blanks)

    • We fixed the issue where the incorrect dashboard URL does not properly redirect when switching to the design dashboard.
    • We fixed the inconsistency of character length validation in various places when adding and updating items.
    • We fixed the issue where the tooltip was not properly aligned on the permission listing page.
    • We fixed the issue where the “get embed code” dialog had styling problems when accessed after inserting a template dashboard.
    • We fixed the issue of the clear icon not showing in the search input in the “insert sample” dialog.
    • We fixed the issue where publishing a dashboard from advanced mode was not properly validating the details.
    • We fixed the issue with the bulk user import job not showing whether the user was deleted or deactivated.

    Breaking Changes:

    Data sources

    • We removed the description field’s custom attribute and dashboard parameter support in the “create data source” window.
    • We removed query and user details from the browser developer console’s Post Designer Action API call response.

    Widgets

    • We have enhanced the Chart primary axis title’s text from displaying a simple text ‘Values’ to displaying a field name when more than one field is configured.
